Air and Vapor Barrier
Air and vapor barrier systems control the movement of air into and out of a building enclosure and can be used as a transition membrane into window and door openings. These systems are typically applied to exterior sheathing, concrete or wood substrates, and are separated by system permeability. Architects and engineers can choose from a vapor permeable system or a vapor impermeable system, both of which mitigate air infiltration/exfiltration, vapor transmission and water penetration, the latter of which allows passage of water vapor.
Air and vapor barrier systems can also be either liquid-applied, that allows for a seamless membrane that fully adheres to the building and accelerates installation times, or a self-adhered sheet applied membrane that provides uniform coverage and rugged protection against incidental damage during the buildings construction.
Air and vapor barrier systems afford contractors flexibility in product and assembly selection. Our air barrier installers are certified by our product manufacturers and are certified by the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA).
In the last decade since air and vapor barriers have become a critical component of building construction, DH RESTORATION, INC. has been at the forefront in applications across the Midwest. We work with manufacturers such as Tremco, Grace Construction Products, Henry, Carlisle, ProSoCo, and Sto to ensure that our employees are properly trained and that we are using the most productive methods and equipment to ensure projects are completed on time.
